3-Month Notice Period: A Barrier for Job Seekers?

I have recently applied to 40+ job opportunities, but I have received only 4–5 interview calls so far. During some of these conversations, HR representatives mentioned that they would not proceed with my profile because my current organization has a 3-month notice period.

This raises an important concern. If many organizations themselves have similar 2–3 month notice periods, why is it often expected that candidates should be immediate joiners or have very short notice periods?

For employees who are genuinely looking to move forward in their careers, this situation becomes quite challenging. On one side, we are required to serve the full notice period as per company policy, and on the other side, many opportunities are closed because organizations prefer immediate availability.

I would really appreciate insights from the community on this: How do professionals navigate this situation when their company has a long notice period policy?

Are there practical strategies that candidates can follow to manage this expectation gap between organizations?

Looking forward to hearing different perspectives and experiences.

One has to accept the fact that this is the reality of the Indian job scene.

So option is, if confident of getting a job, and it's an overall positive hiring scene, then put in papers, and interview like crazy.
