200 years of recruiting. 1 repeating pattern

1800s recruiter - Rode a horse. Asked around. Leaned in on gossip to know who's looking. Checked in family first or friends of family. Hired the someones cousin.

1900s recruiter - lived on Newspaper classifieds + unions + telegrams. Hired whoever showed up in a tie.

1980s recruiter - Flipped a Rolodex. Called every number. Landline. Suit. Referral. Repeat.

2000s recruiter - Nokia Generation Recruiter. Started Mass mailing. Called it "headhunting." Also begged/ borrowed/ stole for BPO trip sheets.

2010s recruiter - Lived off LinkedIn. Ctrl+C JD. Ctrl+V outreach. Got access to 70 more portals.

2020s recruiter - AI in bio. ChatGPT tab always open. Sources via tools they can't explain. Thinks building a personal brand = building a hiring engine.

200 years of recruiting ... One pattern. 90% of them ONLY talk, talk and talk. All gas, and nothing more. AND ONLY 10% signal.

Years apart but same outcome.. Fancy tools. Fancy words. But same old noise.

Because recruiting is the easiest job to start. And the hardest job to master.

Here .. Everyone's loud. Few are trusted. And, even fewer are respected.
